Halbro North West Leagues Providing grass roots rugby since 2002

Minutes of Committee Meeting - 06 October 2020

Minutes of the Committee Meeting of NORWIRUL

6th October 2020 at 7pm

Present:
Fred Swarbrick, John Powell, Peter Rhodes, Greg King, Ian Cosens, Paul Riordan, Craig Hine, Tommy Hughes, Andy Thompson, Craig Ross and Peter Harrison

Minutes of last Meeting:
Agreed as a correct record

Finance:
The engraver had finally submitted their invoice for the last three years trophies £9,200 and £600 paid out to Double Six for management of the website

Sponsorship:
The engraver to be added to the sponsors. FS to sort out information from them to link to their website etc. Div 3 West allocated to them. IC had still not heard from Wayne Lord another potential sponsor. It was agreed to wait until rugby restarts to persue. No point in chasing for monies with no rugby.

Rugby/Fixtures:
FS had spoken to Dave Clark and he said the RFU were hoping to start national league fixtures at the end of October. Although recent outbreaks at a number of Premiership clubs including Sale Sharks will make this doubtful
It was agreed that the earliest possible start date would be January but that is still very doubtful. If start on January 1st then the leagues would play all fixtures once with a cup competition at the end. Depending on start date AT suggested that we run mini groups keeping it locally and winners etc going through to a knockout competition. RFU may extend the season until the end of May. No decision until start and end dates known, but JP agreed that the fixtures could be re-done to suit timescales allowed.

A discussion took place around whether to contact teams to see if were still functioning, player numbers and actual numbers of teams. It was reported that Buxton had folded as a club, and there were many others struggling. TH said that the Counties were trying to help clubs financially but wouldn’t be able to keep it up for too long. It was agreed not yet and to leave nearer the start of the season whenever that might be.

AGM:
Both Lancashire RFU and the Colts League held their AGMs by zoom. PRiordan thought our current licence would only allow 24 users . JP and PRiordan to arrange if possible.
If possible then Tuesday 17th November but will be limited to 1 attendee per club. Invites to fixture Secretaries for them to pass on to the Club Secretary who will need to reply with contact details of their club’s nominee.

Any proposals and seconded need to be sent to PH

A.O.B.:
AT said his son is looking at travel times/distances for next season’s fixtures

Next Meeting:
Pre AGM meeting 16th November at 7:00pm
