Squad Registration Regulations...


Issue 17 - 09th December 2011 


(1). Players must be under the respective age on 1st September of the relevant season.

(2). Over-aged players are not permitted !! Managers and Coaches have a Duty of Care to ensure they do not field over-aged players and are warned they are likely to be held liable should litigation occur involving an injury caused by any over-aged player.

(3). Under 16’s Players are permitted to play-up in a Junior Colts (Under 17’s) Team provided they are registered in line with these Regulations and the Team Manager has obtained their Parent's or Guardian's permission. They must not play Senior Colts Rugby.

(4). Under 17’s and U18's Players are permitted to play-up in a Senior Colts (Under 19/18’s) Team provided they are registered in line with these Regulations and the Team Manager has obtained their Parent's or Guardian's permission.

(5). Players may be dual registered to play for both their Senior Colts and Junior Colts Teams provided Squad Registration Regulation (1) to (4) are complied with and such Players must only play for one Team each weekend.

(6). All Players must be Fully Paid-Up Members of their Club and must be registered on the RFU's Rugby First Young Player Registrations Database. RFU Registration Numbers must be obtained - Your Club's Youth Registrations Officer can assist with this.

(7). Managers must be in possession of the RFU Registration Numbers and I/D Cards (or a sheet of cards) on all matchdays for every player they intend to field. RFU I/D Cards must be available for exchange with your opposite number or inspection by any Colts League Official at all times. Unregistered Players must not play.

(8). RFU I/D Card Photo's MUST be updated at U17.

(9). All Players must also be registered on the official Colts League Squad Registration Form before they can play in any Colts League Match.

(10). A new Squad Registration Form must be completed for each Team and submitted before 1st June each season. Managers are advised to save and keep a copy of their original Squad Registration Form for any subsequent additions.

(11). New or Returning Players must not play in a Colts League or League Cup match until properly registered per these SquadReg Regulations, complete with RFU Reg' Numbers.

(12). Colts Players of the correct age who have played for a Club at Junior and Colts levels may continue to play for their Colts Team when they are registered to play Senior Rugby with another Club provided they are still a paid-up member and are not overplayed.  For Dual-registrations please check with the RFU Registrations Officer.

(13). Transfer of Players from other Clubs is allowable although Coaches & Managers must not actively solicit the services of a Player from another Club and Managers must make every effort to inform a Player's "Old Club" of the change of Club registration.

(14). An updated SquadReg Form must be submitted to the League before any Player can be fielded.

(15). Playing Unregistered or Over-Aged Players will incur a sanction of at least one point deduction per offence and may incur the game to be forfeit.

(16). Completed SquadReg Forms should be submitted as detailed in the SquadRegForm guidelines.

(17). Scans...
        Please DO NOT e-mail scanned Forms... unless you have converted them to a PDF file first.
        Scans sent as a .jpg file will not get through and will be deleted !!

Player Registration Window...

(18). The RFU's U17 Player Registration Window closes on 31st December each season. Players cannot be registered with a Team nominated to the RFU's National U17's competition after this date.

(19). The Colts League's Player Registration Window closes immediately following the final League game of the season - normally the last Sunday in February. Players changing Clubs cannot be registered after this date. New players to the area may be permitted to register on special application to the League's Hon' Secretary.
