Squad Registration Regulations...

1. Player Eligibility and Registrations

(1). Players must be under the respective age on 1st September of the relevant season.

(2a). Over-aged players are not permitted !!...

(2b). Managers and Coaches have a Duty of Care to ensure they do not field over-aged players.

(2c). Managers and Coaches are warned they are likely to be held liable should litigation occur involving an injury caused by any over-aged player they field. Precedent; Mountfield v Newlands School.

(3a). Under 16’s Players are permitted to play-up in a Junior Colts (Under 17’s) Team provided they are registered in line with these Regulations, plus their Parent's or Guardian's permission has been obtained.

(3b). U16's must not play Senior Colts (Under 19's) Rugby.

(4a). Under 17’s and U18's Players are permitted to play-up in a Senior Colts U19 Team provided they are registered in line with these Regulations, plus their Parent's or Guardian's permission has been obtained.

(4b). Under 17's Players (but not Under 16's) correctly registered in line with these Regulations are deemed to be dual registered to play for both their Senior Colts and Junior Colts Teams provided their Parent's or Guardian's permission has been obtained.

(4e). Such Players must only play for one Team each weekend.

(5a). Players must be Paid-Up Members of their Club and registered on the RFU Rugby First Registration Database.

(5b). Managers must be in possession of RFU I/D Cards (or sheet of cards) for every player they intend to field.

(5c). RFU I/D Card Photo's must be updated at U17.

(6a). RFU I/D Cards must be available for inspection between Managers & Coaches before each game.

(6b). RFU I/D Cards must be checked in line with RFU Guidelines at least 30 minutes before Kick Off time.

(6c). Teams failing to make their RFU I/D Cards available for checking will be subject to 2 point sanction

(6d). Teams failing to make their RFU I/D Cards available for checking may also forfeit the game.

(7). Unregistered Players must not be selected to play.

(8a). Squad Registration Forms with RFU Registration Numbers must be submitted before 24th May each season.

(8b). SquadRegForms can be submitted by PDF email or Fax as detailed in the SquadRegForm guidelines.

(8c). Team Managers must keep a copy of their SquadRegForm to which any new players should be added.

(8e). New or Returning Players must not play in a Colts League match until properly registered with the League.

(8f). Updated SquadRegForms must be submitted to the League before any Player can be fielded.

(9). Colts Players of the correct age who have played for a Club at Junior and Colts levels may continue to play for their Colts Team when they are registered to play Senior Rugby with another Club, provided they are still a paid-up member and are not overplayed.  For Dual-registrations please check with the RFU Registrations Officer.

(10). Transfer of Players from other Clubs is allowable although Managers & Coaches must not actively solicit the services of a Player from another Club. Managers must make every effort to inform a Player's "Old Club" of the change of Club registration.

(11). Playing Unregistered or Over-Aged Players will incur a sanction of at least two points deducted per offence and may incur games to be forfeit.

(12). Managers - DO NOT submit multiple Forms with one or two players on them - this makes extra work for League Volunteers. Please add new Players to your original SquadReg Form and re-submit.


2. Player Registration Window...

(1). The RFU's U17 Player Registration Window closes on 31st December each season. Players cannot be registered with a Team nominated to the RFU's National U17's Competition after this date.

(2). In line with RFU Regulations the Colts League's Player Registration Window also now closes on 31st December each season. New Players or Players changing Clubs cannot be registered with a Colts League Team after this date..

(3). New players to the area may be permitted to register on special application to the League's Hon' Secretary.
