Seeding Regulations...
Issue 13 - 13th March 2013
Reference to Teams in all Colts League Documentation and Regulations refers to the Responsible Persons in charge of Team Admin, and is hereinafter assumed to mean the Team Manager or Head Coach, or both, as applicable...
1. The Seeding Process
(1). The League undertakes the Seeding Process immediately follows the Entry Deadline which is 24th May.
(2). The objective is to Seed the Colts Teams into Leagues with Teams of similar ability.
(3). Seeding is not an accurate science, being based on feedback, opinion, and the mean average of declared and known results.
(4). Getting the seeding as near right as possible is important... Achieving evenly Seeded Leagues delivers equitable games of Colts League Rugby where the Players can best develop their game.
(5). It is in no Team's interest to be seeded too low and to be winning by a cricket score each weekend, nor is it helpful to be seeded too high and to be taking a regular drubbing.
(6). The Seeding Process is wholely dependant on Managers' and Coach's accurate feedback as they best know their own Team, as well as their regular recent opponents; it is therefore extremely important every Team assists the Colts League by contributing to the process.
NB...
(7). Teams who do not communicate and co-operate with the Seeding Process cause undue delays and will have their commitment to the Colts League seriously questioned... Entries from such Teams may be declined.
2. Junior Colts Seeding...
(1). Teams must submit a SquadReg Form before 24th May in line with the Squad Registration Regulations.
(2). Teams must submit their U16's Results from last season to : seeding@colts-rugby.org.uk
(3). Teams must submit a written justification of their Self-Seeding selected on their Entry Application.
(4). Teams must inform the Seeding Panel of any significant changes or additions to their Squad, when compared to last season, which may influence their league seeding.
(5). Seeding Feedback must be sent by all Teams to : seeding@colts-rugby.org.uk
3. Senior Colts Seeding...

(2). Teams entering the Colts League for the first time at Senior Colts must provide their previous season's Results to assist the seeding panel to : seeding@colts-rugby.org.uk
(3). Teams finishing in the top places of the Junior Colts Leagues can expect to be moved up a level unless they present an acceptable case to the contrary.
(4). Teams must submit a written justification of their Self-Seeding selected on their Entry Application.
(5). Teams Self-Seeding into a lower League must present an acceptable case to justify the move.
(6). Teams must inform the Seeding Panel of any significant changes or additions to their Squad when compared to last season which may influence their league seeding.
(7). Teams with U19 Players available from last season's Senior Colts Squad must highlight the inclusion of Such Players in their Squad List to the Seeding Panel.
NB...
(8). Teams failing to notify the League of their intended use of Such U19 Players may be prevented from adding them to their Squad Registrations at a later stage in the season.
(9). Please submit all Seeding Feedback to : seeding@colts-rugby.org.uk
4. The Further Seeding Process...
(1). Once all Entries are known (after 24th May) the League will publish a Team Rating Form.
(2). Teams are asked to rate all Teams of which they have knowledge & experience. Team Rating Forms are to be returned within 7 days of publication.
(3). The League Seeding Panel will then meet to determine League Seeding, which is based primarily on Teams Feedback of Seeding Info, Squad Info, and Ratings.
(4). A Provisional Seeded Leagues document will then be published, followed by a 7-day consultation period.
(5). The target publication date for Colts League Fixtures is 1st July each season.
NB...
(6). Leagues will not be changed or re-structured once the seedings are agreed and the Fixtures published.
