Fleetwood jnrs struggle against strong Kendal side in the cup
Fleetwood took up a depleted squad of players for their cup game with one of the favourites to Kendal. They were suffering from injuries suspensions and illness and started the game with only 14 men. Fleet kicked off but were soon under pressure and as Kendal always seemed to have an overlap they scored a try in the corner.Fleet did hit back with some good work from both forwards and backs but they were unable to convert a penalty, however, they were soon on the scoresheet thanks to a penalty by Scott Richardson.Try as they might Fleet were again further behind with two more unconverted trys, before going down to only 13 men. through injury half way through the first period.Their defence was sound for the rest of the half though they did conseed a further try right on half time. HT 20-3.
The second half started badly as Kendal scored straight from the kick off under the posts.Fleet always tried to play some good rugby but eventually the lack of numbers proved to much and as they tried throughout the half Kendal scored regular trys to make the final score 60-3. Fleet did not throw in the towel and to be fair to them they kept their heads up and tried to play rugby whenever they could.
