The Colts League Organising Committee fervently believe in the benefits of games being Refereed by an "Independant Official" with no ties or connections to the Team they are Refereeing.
Coaches or Club Members refereeing their own Club Teams is not ideal, but does solve a problem. It's just about OK for friendly games, however for competitive Colts League games it is not satisfactory and should not be acceptable to any of us.
Referees for Colts League games should be "independant" so there can be no accusations of being a "Homer". It also benefits Young Player development and prepares them for the Senior Game.
THE REF's ARE OUT THERE...
Last season with over 900 Colts League & League Cup games only 4 were reported as being postponed with no Referee - so these chaps must be out there. We just need to encourage them to accept an appointment to another "local" game in exchange for another CLRA Referee to officiate at their Club.
ASK THEM THE QUESTION ??
or... LET US KNOW THEIR CONTACT DETAILS and WE WILL...
Teams & Clubs are encouraged to put forward their "Club Referees" or other "Referee Candidates" to join the CLRA. The aim is to establish a network of independant "Local Exchange Referees" to the benefit of the game in general, and to Colts Rugby in particular.
THEY MAY BE...
An Ex-Society Referee who doesn't want to travel so far, or who now has other commitments on a Saturday - encourage them back to Refereeing.
A Senior Player, still playing on a Saturday, who really wants to get into Refereeing.
Last season's Colts Coach who would really like to take up the whistle.
ASK THEM THE QUESTION - YOU NEVER KNOW...
