Warrington JC 34 v Wharefdale JC 10

Today is going to be the day....

Warrington JC - 34
Wharfedale JC - 10

... Everything that happened today was the result of a collective team effort, some may sit at home tonight despondent in the lack of pitch time today - the truth of the matter shows a squad effort in the truest meaning has secured the victory today and from squad no 1 -25 should feel good about themselves tonight in what they have achieved. In game 21 of the season Warrington did a number on a talented Wharfedale team which every one should be proud of.

Warrington made a brighter start probing Wharfedale's defence in the outside channels and came close to scoring early doors. A few nerves and snatched passes in the final execution left the visitors off the hook on more than one occasion.

After skipper Riley pinged over a three pointer to start the board ticking Warrington pressed and attacked , Rory Booth hit a fine
line hard ,offloading to Pete Edwards for try 1 converted by Riley.

Dale were under the cosh at Scrum time giving their very talented back line an up hill task in breaking the the Wire defence and for a period of time it looked like one line break might tip the balance either way.Ultimately it was an audacious break out of defence that that secured Dales first points , Wire hit left at pace from their own 22m , they play was on for all to see but Dale poached a 50/50 interception ball and bagged 7 points. As the clock wound down the Warrington boys did what they do best and react positively with Rory Booth skittling his opposite number to put Wire in front at Half time.

Second Half

With a stiffening east wind at their backs Warrington felt the tide had turned and began to to press up hard on Dales escape moves from deep.

Scrum time was dominated by Warrington with dale retreating at a rate of knots that always created a challenge for their talented back line.

As wire upped the tempo and physicality Jack Grey powered his way over to score a try that probably proved to be the turning point in the game as Riley converted.

Warrington scented blood ,as they often do in the final quarter ,repulsing valiant Dale attacks and were unfortunate not to rack up a number of scores up the middle of the park!

Cometh the hour, Cometh the 'wheels' as pace man Max Caldwell stepped, fended and said 'hasta la vista' to burn his opposite number for a brace of tries to seal the match.

Respect goes to Wharfedale, a worthy and feisty opposition in a clean and well fought encounter.

Warrington go forward to a fixture against the Midlands winners in a few weeks time.
