Lymm success in Cock-o-the-North

Lymm Senior Colts complete the Treble and become North of England Champions!

The Cock O’ the North Challenge Cup is seen by many as the epitaph to a successful Colts' season and by many players as the crowning glory to their Colts Rugby career and for Lymm it was a fairytale ending to a fantastic season when they beat Sheffield in a close, tense, thrilling encounter at Huddersfield.
Lymm were taken aback by the powerful backline of Sheffield early on in the match who capitalised on some uncharacteristically poor defending from Lymm to take a 12-0 lead after just twenty mins. However, the lads found their composure and placed Sheffield under pressure after some great phases of rugby but a couple of penalty chances went begging followed by a disallowed try by Liam Mawe and it was looking like it wasn’t to be their day. However, you could sense there was plenty more to come from the Lymm lads who dug deep and after a well worked try finished by Andy Rowley nerves were settled, confidence and belief returned and the second half was dominated by Lymm whose forwards worked tirelessly in the heat of the day to generate lots of possession and with some scintillating rugby and clinical finishing by the backs, Lymm built on the momentum and just didn’t allow Sheffield back into the game.
