CODES of CONDUCT of the North West Colts League

Issue 4 - 5th May 2008

CODES of CONDUCT

1. The Ethos of the Colts League is simple clear and coherent but avails to nothing if it is not practiced by everyone to the mutual benefit of all. Coaches and Managers who cannot fully subscribe to these principles should seriously consider whether they are doing justice to the Colts Players in their charge.

2. In submitting an "Entry Form", either electronically or by post, ALL CLUBS agree to an undertaking with the Colts League, and thereby with each Member Team, to brief their Managers, Coaches, Players, and Spectators to observe and abide by the ConstitutionRulesCodes of Conduct, and Youth Discipline Contract of the Colts League.

3. The Colts League “Codes of Conduct” embrace and combine both iRB “Regulation 20”, and the RFU “Code of Conducts”, both of which should published on Club notice boards and adhered to.

4. iRB Regulation 20 is available HERE

5. RFU “Code of Conducts” are available HERE

6. The Colts League “Codes of Conduct” should be seen as complimentary and additional to any Member Club’s own Code of Conduct.

8. In addition to the above the Colts League Organising Committee would emphasise the following extract from the Competition Rules which must be observed at all times:~

8(3). Whilst a match is in progress all Replacements, Coaches, and Managers must remain within a marked technical area, other than when attending an injured player or bringing on water. ALL Clubs should ensure these areas are clearly marked.

8(4). Whilst a match is in progress Spectators must be outside the playing enclosure & back from the touchlines at all times behind a suitable pitch-side barrier. Spectators must never enter the field of play. ALL Clubs should ensure pitches with such barriers are available for ALL Colts League and League Cup Matches.

8(5). Referees will be instructed not to start Colts League games unless the Technical Area, and a suitable Pitch-Side Barrier is in place. In cases where the match is not played as a result the home Team will be considered to have forfeit the game.

8(6). Clubs are accountable for the conduct of their own Spectators, and as “Officers of the Club” Team Managers & Coaches or other appointed adult acting as "Pitch Marshalls" must ensure their Spectators refrain from inciting or abusing Players or Referees during the game, and at all other times. Clubs will be held to account for their “Offending Spectators” and offenders will be dealt with under Rule 5:12 by the appropriate CB Disciplinary Committee.

8(7). The use of obscene and offensive language is contrary to the spirit and ethos of the game as set out in the iRB's Playing Charter and the RFU Codes of Conduct. It must be discouraged and should not be tolerated from Players Coaches or Spectators.

Players, Coaches, and Spectators are all subject to disciplinary sanctions.
